I photographed my very first newborn in 2020 — during COVID, in a mall studio, with just 15 minutes on the clock.
At the time, I was a senior at UC San Diego earning my Bachelor’s in Visual Arts Media with a minor in entrepreneurship. I had just been hired at a fast-paced retail photography studio where the expectation was simple: capture 15 unique images in 15 minutes, no matter the session type. One day, I was scheduled alone when a mother arrived with her newborn baby.
My only newborn “training” had been practicing swaddling on a stuffed bunny. I hadn’t held a baby in years. Due to social distancing, I wasn’t allowed to physically assist the mother — meaning I had to verbally coach her through swaddling and positioning her newborn while standing six feet away.
With the clock ticking, there was no time for soothing, feeding, or waiting for the baby to settle. Safety concerns aside, the entire experience felt rushed, impersonal, and stressful — especially for a brand-new mom who had likely envisioned something very different for her baby’s first professional photos. Can you imagine bringing your newborn in for photos, having to swaddle and pose them yourself, and then choosing from rushed images knowing there was no time to slow down or try again?
That experience opened my eyes to what newborn photography shouldn’t be.
As restrictions eased, I was finally able to help parents more hands-on. On slower days, I occasionally had 20 or even 30 minutes with a single family — and the difference was undeniable. Babies settled more easily. Mothers relaxed. The photos felt softer, more intentional, and more meaningful. But working in a corporate photography environment meant time limits were non-negotiable. Sessions were built around efficiency, not babies — and certainly not mothers in one of the most vulnerable seasons of their lives.
That was the moment everything shifted for me.
I knew I wanted to create a newborn photography experience that was slower, safer, and centered entirely around the baby and their family — not a timer.
In December 2021, I opened my own photography business specializing in newborn and maternity photography.
From the beginning, my goal was clear: to provide a personalized, luxury newborn photography experience where parents feel supported, unrushed, and confident that their baby is in expert hands.
I invested in professional newborn posing and safety courses, and I spent an entire year shadowing an experienced newborn photographer to learn how to safely pose babies in a variety of styles — always following baby-led cues and industry safety standards.
I invested thousands of dollars into professional camera equipment, studio lighting, newborn outfits, wraps, swaddles, and props so parents never have to worry about what their baby should wear or how to prepare.
Today, I offer in-home newborn photography sessions so families don’t have to stress about leaving the house with a newborn. You can relax on your own sofa, stay comfortable, and watch the session unfold while I handle every detail.
I provide full proof galleries so you can view every viable image from your session and choose the photos that truly resonate with you — not just a rushed selection.
Each image is professionally retouched to preserve your baby exactly as you want to remember them. From reducing redness, jaundice, baby acne, and dry skin to subtle face swaps when siblings blink or look away, every detail is handled with care.
Your final images are delivered through a private online gallery, making it easy to download, share, and preserve these memories for years to come.
Newborn photography isn’t just about beautiful images — it’s about trust.
Your baby is only this little once. These moments deserve patience, safety, and intention.
When you choose a professional newborn photographer, you’re choosing peace of mind during a fleeting season of life.
That’s why I do things differently — and why I’m honored every time a family trusts me to document their baby’s very first days.
