Hi, I'm Riley Kai, your San Diego in-home studio photographer. I'm here to capture your child's newest milestone, all in the comfort of your own home. My goal is to make your life easier when it comes to portraits which means I bring almost everything to you; lights, backdrops, props, and more. I want to bring your vision to reality: I take prop requests for sitter sessions and do my best to create unique themes for your child.

Safety is my number one priority. I am proudly vaccinated against Covid-19 with two booster shots for your family's protection.

About This Service

Capture your baby's big personality before they start crawling! All sessions come with your choice of props and outfit(s) from Riley Kai's client closet. Studio setup brought to your home. This session is specifically for babies who cannot sit up on their own yet.

Travel Fee: $2 per mile charged one way after the first 25 miles from Chula Vista. Hardwood floors required. Additional photos: $20 each.

What to Expect

Milestone sessions are best scheduled after your baby's morning or afternoon nap and last 30-45 minutes. I'll set up the backdrop, lighting and props while you're getting your baby ready. I try to get a variety of shots and up to 3 props for you to have a diverse gallery of images to pick from. One outfit change is permitted. Additional outfit changes and props are not guaranteed due to the average baby's attention span. Please buffer your schedule with an additional 30 minutes before and after your session for setup and breakdown. My digital delivery timeline is roughly 1-2 weeks from your session date.

Milestone FAQs

When should I book my session?

It depends how old your child is.

For cake smash, I suggest booking between 11 and 13 months. If you need the photos for party invitations, please book your session 4 weeks before you need to send them out. My turnaround time is between 1-2 weeks, so this will give you 1-2 weeks to get anything printed for the big day,

For milk baths, I do not accept children younger than 9 months for safety reasons.

What should I do the MORNING before my session?

If your session is at your home, please clear the area where you would like me to photograph. It should be minimum 8 feet by 8 feet but the bigger the better. If you have any pets, please sweep away any dander or hair from the space.

If you're doing a cake smash, please pick up the cake with plenty of time before the session and store it in the fridge to prevent the icing from melting.

What should my child wear?

I have a collection of outfits specifically for milestone sessions, but I can make some great recommendations on a case by case basis depending on your intended aesthetic. We will discuss this when planning your session.

Prop Collection

Here is a my current collection of props and outfits. Some colors may be edited to a different hue (for example, the pink bed can be edited to look tan or blue).
